Science Minister Dr. Manja Schüle visited Fraunhofer IZI-BB, the division for Bioanalytics and Bioprocesses of the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology, to learn about the current research of the Fraunhofer Center for Digital Diagnostics ZDD®.

Improved patient care, speedier diagnoses and savings in care costs – the digital transformation of the healthcare industry promises solutions to the urgent problems of our time. Increasingly, systems based on artificial intelligence (AI) are being employed. But how can these be used effectively while maintaining compliance with data protection laws? Experts from the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft will be providing insights into their current work at DMEA 2023 in Berlin and answering questions about tomorrow’s health IT at booth D107 in Hall 2.2.

The Fraunhofer Center for Digital Diagnostics ZDD, which is funded by the German federal government and the state of Brandenburg, held a symposium at the Fraunhofer IZI in Leipzig in early December 2022. The aim of the networking event was to inform the participating project partners and the board of directors of the ZDD about the current status of the ongoing projects as well as the planned activities.

After a thorough evaluation of many, innovative Fraunhofer-internal solution approaches, four major projects and the elaboration of eight project ideas were selected for funding in June 2022.

Following an initial analysis and strategy phase, three initial fields of action have now been identified, which the center will address with initial concrete solutions.
